Starting April 2014, a new fee is being assessed on all health care professionals authorized to prescribe or fill prescriptions for controlled substances. This fee will be used to support the Controlled Substance Utilization Review and Evaluation System (CURES) and Prescription Drug Monitoring Program (PDMP), which is managed by the California Department of Justice, Office of Attorney General.
For dentists, the CURES/PDMP fee will be $12.00 every two year renewal period, and it will be charged on top of the Dental Board licensure/renewal fee. More information about the CURES/PDMP fee increase, along with a reminder about new dental licensure/renewal fees effective July 1, can be found on the Dental Board website.
