Why Contribute to San FRAN-D-PAC?
Dentists have never been more vulnerable. Health care in California is highly regulated and legislated. As government and the insurance industry continue their quest to control oral health care, your clinical autonomy is in jeopardy. Now more than ever, you need to fight to keep dental decisions in your well-trained hands. Dentistry continues to face big challenges from budget deficits, implementation of health care reform, and attacks on MICRA and Medi-Cal/Denti-Cal. At the same time, patients and members face multiple risks from the economy, the insurance industry, and the health care delivery system. The voice of dentistry must be heard on these issues.
Small business owners in California, and especially in San Francisco, face inumerable regulatory challenges (i.e. Sick Leave Ordinace, Wastewater Permits, etc.). SFDS PAC is an essential and critical part of SFDS’ legislative and political advocacy efforts, because it provides dentists a tangible means to support candidates who share our goals at the local and state levels. We are the voice of San Francisco dentists, and we need your support.
What Does the SFDS PAC Do?
San-FRAN-D-PAC makes direct contributions to pro-dentistry, pro-small business candidates seeking election to public offices in San Francisco, California state legislature, and some select statewide offices. But PAC activities involve more than just making political contributions to candidates. We strive to educate dentists about the political process, and to help them become effective players in the political arena. SFDS PAC provides interested members with advice on organizing local events for legislative candidates, by collaborating with the SFDS Legislative Committee. And through support of and participation on the SFDS Legislative Committee, members meet with legislators to discuss issues important to San Francisco dentists.
What the SF PAC cannot do
The SF PAC cannot provide direct support/contributions toward issues or initiatives...only candidates.
